Berkeley City Council

The City of Berkeley, California HATES the military - all branches and they have absolutely no respect for anyone wearing a military uniform. Mayor Tom Bates and the Berkeley City Council have officially taken that stance. There is no other way to look at it. They can deny it all they want to, but there is no hiding from the public record. Here is the proof.

On 29 January 2008, the Berkeley City Council voted to tell the U.S. Marines that its Shattuck Avenue recruiting station "is not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders". The Berkeley City Council has taken a stand against the United States Marine Corps preventing college graduates from joining the Marine Corps as officers.

The Berkeley Peace and Justice Commission is an actual office within the city government of Berkeley under Mayor Tom Bates. This commission wrote a plan to remove the Marine Recruiting Office from within the City of Berkeley. Apparently, they had many like-minded individuals in the Berkeley City Council. Not surprisingly, CodePINK worked very close with Mayor Tom Bates, the Berkeley City Council, and the necessary offices to achieve this result. The Berkeley City Council has joined the ranks of America's "Fifth Column".

Nooooo. That could not be. Berkeley has always been the bastion of free speech, rational thinking, and peace, but they could not possible "HATE" the men and women in uniform. They would never stand in the way or actually vote against the existence of the military. That has to be a mistake - a misunderstanding of sorts, right? Yeah, well... keep reading.

The wording of the resolution (PDF file) from the Berkeley Peace and Justice Commission is as follows:

The Recommendations

1. Direct the City Attorney to investigate and report back to Council within 60 days on City options for enforcing Chapter 13.28 of the Berkeley Municipal Code, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, with respect to military recruiting offices in Berkeley.

2. Direct the City Manager to send letters to the Marine Corps Recruiting Station at 64 Shattuck Avenue and to General James T. Conway, Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, advising them that the Marine recruiting office is not welcome in our city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders.

3. Encourage all people to avoid cooperation with the Marine Corps recruiting station, and applaud residents and organizations such as CodePINK, that may volunteer to impede, passively or actively, by nonviolent means, the work of any military recruiting office located in the City of Berkeley.

Members of the Berkeley City Council showed their opposition to a Marine Corps recruiting office in Downtown Berkeley by supporting all three resolutions by the following measures.

Resolution I - CodePINK, a national anti-war grassroots organization, will be granted a parking spot for their regular Wednesday afternoon protests and will not need to apply for a sound permit for the next six months.

Resolution II - The city manager was directed to send a letter to the U.S. Marine Corps saying they are "uninvited and unwelcome intruders" in the city.

Resolution III - CodePINK along with all other "Peace Activists" are free to do whatever they can to encourage all people to avoid cooperation with the Marine Corps recruiting station, and applaud residents and organizations such as Code Pink, that may volunteer to impede, passively or actively, by nonviolent means, the work of any military recruiting office located in the City of Berkeley.

The Berkeley City Council passed a measure calling troops "uninvited and unwelcome intruders". Does anyone else find this disgraceful? This action reminds us of some towns in the South where groups such as the KKK ran Blacks i.e. African Americans, out of town because they did not want them living among the rest of the town's citizens. How is this decision of the Berkeley City Council any different? The fact is, it is no different. It is the same. Bigotry reigns supreme in Berkeley, California.

The author of the initiative, Berkeley-based lawyer Sharon Adams, who has worked closely with CodePINK, modeled the initiative after current zoning law that restricts the location of adult-oriented businesses.

The person who wrote the language calling the Marines "uninvited intruders" is Elliot Cohen of the Peace and Justice Commission, who was appointed to the commission by Karen Hemphill. "In the same way that many communities limit the location of pornographic stores, that's the same way we feel about the military recruiting stations," said PhoeBe Anne Sorgen, an initiative proponent, CodePINK activist, and a member of the city's Peace and Justice Commission.

The Berkeley City Council wants to treat military recruitment offices like porn shops.

In addition, the city attorney will investigate whether the city's anti-discrimination laws are enforceable at the recruiting center, based on the military's consideration of sexual orientation in hiring. Local activists have also proposed an initiative for the November 2008 elections that would require military recruiting centers to acquire a special use permit to operate in Berkeley.

It is interesting what her assistant had to say when confronted on the phone about Sharon Adam's involvement with the Marine recruiters that typifies the Liberal view of the military.

...this country is not free because of the Military; it's free because of heroes like Sharon [Adams, Attorney at law], Martin Luther King... (She named a couple of others)... the military doesn't make us free, its only purpose is to make money for the rich!

This is usually when they say, "But we support the troops." Yeah, right...

In a city measure that passed 8-1, with Gordon Wozniak providing the lone dissenting vote, for the CodePINK parking spot and 6-3, with Gordon Wozniak, Betty Olds and Kriss Worthington dissenting, for the condemnation resolution. The Berkeley City Council also voted 7-2, with Gordon Wozniak and Betty Olds dissenting, to explore enforcing its law prohibiting discrimination based on the sexual orientation against the Marines and to encourage the women's peace group CodePINK to protest in front of the station. The Berkeley City Council has officially written the U.S. Marine Corps stating that the Marine recruiting station are not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders." in the city of Berkeley.

The meeting lasts 4 hours 33 minutes and CodePINK makes a showing about 1 hour and 13 minutes into the meeting. It is comical to see some of the Left-Wing rhetoric that precedes it. A word of warning though, these Liberals will really start to turn your stomach after a few minutes. The entire city council meeting of 29 January 2008 can be viewed by clicking here.

In speaking of the military that selflessly protects his right of free speech, council member Max Anderson said, "We are confronted with an organization that can spend billions of dollars on propaganda. This is not Okinawa here; we're involved in a naked act of aggression. If we can provide a space for ordinary people to protest this barbarity, we ought to do so."

You read that right; "Barbarity" is the only word that Max Anderson of the Berkeley City Council can use to describe the existence of the Marine Corps. He speaks in a very condescending demeanor about the Marine Corps. What is so sad is the Anderson is an Ex-Marine... Look at him now... a traitor supporting a Communist organization. Anderson was "drummed out" of the Marines and now bears nothing but contempt and hatred for the Marine Corps. He was a substandard Marine with a bad attitude when he was in the Marine Corps and nothing has changed so how does anyone expect him to have anything good to say about the Marine Corps? It does make you wonder what kind of discharge he received.

"I believe in the CodePINK cause. The Marines don't belong here, they shouldn't have come here, and they should leave," Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates said after votes were cast.

These people would have you believe they support the troops!

No More Recruiters In Our Town

It is safe to say that Mayor Tom Bates, a retired Army Captain, or anyone else in the Berkeley City Council was never an asset to the security of the United States. The mayor and the Berkeley City Council are very sympathetic with CodePINK and their anti-American, anti-military agenda. Look at the video above. CodePINK has the protection and permission of the Berkeley City Council to do whatever they want to do. What other city in the nation would allow this to happen?

Consider the case of retired Army Captain Tom Bates, currently the mayor of Berkeley, for a moment. With his observations and statements at the Berkeley City Council, could he lead men into battle? Would soldiers follow him into battle, have faith in him, or respect him? We are speaking about soldiers that these people say they support. The answer... NO, soldiers would not follow him into battle... NO, soldiers would not have faith in him... and NO, they do not respect him. He is as much of a traitor as Senator John Kerry, the most Liberal Senator serving today and every frontline soldier knows it... but ask one serving today. Face it, Mayor Tom Bates is a traitor supporting a Communist organization.

Here is what Mayor Tom Bates, the Berkeley City Council, and the rest of CodePINK's so-called "Peace Movement" fail to understand. The Right of Free Speech is defended by the barrel of an M-16 carried by a US Marine. They would have you believe that they are the ones that protect and defend the First Amendment (and the rest of the Constitution) by their protesting and hatred of the military. That might make sense to them, but that is merely a case of false reality, wishful thinking, and grandiose visions of importance.

Since the protests began in 2007, CodePINK protesters have vandalized the outside of the Marine Recruiting Office and scrawled messages on the recruiter's doorstep - "Recruiters out of Berkeley! Military free zone!!! Killing children doesn't defend my freedom!" and "No blood for oil!!"

This is the Liberal example of "Tolerance" we keep hearing about. Berkeley is the Holy Grail and birthplace of Liberalism. It is the cornerstone where all Liberal thought is accepted, but you can see what is happening. There is no tolerance of others. The "tolerance" that we hear about is for everyone else to tolerate them. The Marines do not forced anyone into military service. These Liberals say they are for choice, but as you can see, such is not the case. It never has been.

Council Member Betty Olds voted against the resolution to criticize the military and said, "The Marines ought to have better sense than to come here."

"I'm ashamed of my vote," said Councilwoman Betty Olds, who helped approve the parking spot but not the condemnation. "The protesters should have free speech - this is where Free Speech was born, after all - but to tell the Marines they are not welcome is shameful. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't even go for the parking spot."

First, we heard what you and the rest of the Berkeley City Council said on the floor of the City Council meeting, so for you to make the above statement is disingenuous.

Secondly, this is not where Free Speech was born. These Liberals from Berkeley like to think they are smarter, more important, and more influential than everyone else is, but this is not true. We could explain about the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, but she and her CodePINK handlers would try to make a case that someone at Berkeley wrote the US Constitution and the Berkeley City Council holds the Copyright.

Council Member Dona Spring said she would love to step up the pressure even more against the Marine recruiting office. "We're not condemning the men and women who serve, we are condemning the U.S. policy that is teaching the Marines and other military people to torture, oust other countries' political leaders and do other evil things."

It seems that al-Qaeda, Iran, and the rest of Radical Islam have something in common with Berkeley Council Member Dona Spring - they all wish to step up the pressure on the Marines and they all seek to end the existence of the Marines. What a surprise...

Do not say you are not condemning the men and women who serve because you are condemning the Marines in the recruiting office. You want to make their job that much harder. You want to end their existence. Berkeley does not seem to be a very friendly town and that is thanks to your leadership. It is not your job to condemn US policy. It is your job to represent the people of Berkeley, not pass legislation that restricts the Marines from allowing free people the right to join. We have seen you support those that have prevented people from entering the Marine Corps Recruiting Office. If you do not like US policy, why does Berkeley stop accepting money from the US government?

We know you have accepted every bit of propaganda from CodePINK and the rest of the "Peace Movement", but perhaps you might want to open your eyes and see what we are fighting against and you are supporting by interfering with the efforts of the Marines and everyone else that is actually trying to achieve victory so we will be respected in the world. View this if you have the stomach to do so. "Islamic Terrorists in Action".

Council Member Kriss Worthington voted against the requirement to send a letter to the U.S. Marine Corps.

But he did align himself and provide a vote to allow CodePINK full access to continue the harassment to do what they want. Al-Qaeda appreciates your vote.

Council Member Gordon Wozniak, who voted against both resolutions, said perpetuating the conflict in front of the center would harm nearby businesses.

Well, at least he had someone else in mind even if it was not the Marines or any of the other military that fight for the preservation of the US Constitution and the security of this country.

Council Member Laurie Capitelli voted for both resolutions but said he was concerned about the council's opinion on the war influencing the procedural aspects of the resolution, which was the first of its kind ever passed in the city. "We are not talking about the legality of the Iraq war," he said.

No, what you are talking about is empowering and supporting the very people that are killing American Troops. How do you think that the enemy in the Islamic world sees your actions and the actions of the Berkeley City Council? They see it as a very powerful propaganda tool against America.

"I have no grievance at all with CodePINK. I hope you are successful and I hope ultimately the Marines decide to leave."
-- Laurie Capitelli, Council Member District 5

Of course you have no grievance with CodePINK because you are supporting CodePINK, you are empowering CodePINK, and you are doing everything you can to help their cause. What does this say about your agenda?

What is your agenda? How do you support the troops? How do you support the troops if you do not support what they are doing? How do support the troops when you support people that call Marines "Killers" and "Murderers"? How are you supporting the troops when you refer to the military as "The War Machine" instead of the protectors of freedom and liberators of the oppressed?

The fact is you do not support anyone in the military. You loathe the military. You consider the military to be a waste of time and a useless career. To you, serving in the military and defending this nation is not a worthwhile pursuit.

You really have to wonder what these people think of Veterans Day and Memorial Day. These people in Berkeley are not that far away from spitting on Marines, just like the good old days of protesting the Vietnam War. Ah, yes... the memories of years gone by and the glory days of the "Berkeley Peace Movement".

Any intelligent person knows that Berkeley is a very Liberal town, but to actually stand against the Marine Corps is disgraceful. Even the Berkeley Police are involved in the stance against the existence of the Marine Corps

These people would have you believe they support the troops!

At CodePINK's demonstration, the Marines are getting no help at all from local police. This video shows the thuggish protesters blocking the doorways, as police officers do nothing. One of the police officers tells a counter-protester, "We're trying to remain neutral."

What they mean is they are required to remain useless. They have their orders from the Police Chief and he gets his orders from Mayor Tom Bates, who is protesting with CodePINK. Any other place, these demonstrators would refer to the police as "Pigs" but in Berkeley, the police actually side with the protesters.

Here are a couple of quotes that accurately and clearly state the position of the Berkeley City Council.

"Osama bin Laden couldn't have said it better. Disgraceful, disloyal, ungrateful. These words are too kind in describing the actions of the public officials in Berkeley, who voted for this disgrace. Nonetheless, our Marines continue to bravely serve and in so doing, allow Americans to spout such foolishness. The American Legion not only strongly condemns this action by the City Council but also believes that a sincere apology is in order to all Marines, past and present."
-- American Legion National Commander Marty Conatser

"The man or woman who puts on the uniform of a United States Marine, Soldier, Sailor or Airman swears an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Clearly, the elected officials of Berkeley, California see the Constitution as a mere roadblock in their radical Left-Wing agenda. What these fanatics fail to realize is that the fantasy world that they live in exists under the very cloak of freedom provided by the sacrifices of the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces."
-- Pete Hegseth, executive Director of Vets For Freedom

This is what Mayor Tom Bates had to say.

"I believe in the CodePINK cause. The Marines don't belong here, they shouldn't have come here, and they should leave."
-- Tom Bates, Mayor of Berkeley, CA at Berkeley City Council meeting 29 January 2008

It is obvious that the members of the Berkeley City Council do not like the military or even their presence on the streets of Berkeley. What does the Berkeley City Council believe is important? What could be more important to the Berkeley City Council than the men and women of the country's armed forces and National Security?

The Berkeley City Council unanimously voted "YES" on a medical cannabis-related resolution that was co-sponsored by Kriss Worthington and Darryl Moore. This item declares Berkeley a "sanctuary city" for medical cannabis in the event that the DEA raids any of the city's dispensaries; calls on the Berkeley Police Department, the County District Attorney, the Alameda County Sheriff's Department, and the State Attorney General not to cooperate with the DEA as it undermines state and local medical cannabis laws; urges Governor Schwarzenegger to publicly stand with the more than 200,000 medical cannabis patients in the state and to let Congress and the Bush Administration know that DEA interference is uncalled for and will be resisted by local and state government; and encourages the City to plan for continued safe access in Berkeley in the event of a DEA raid on any local dispensaries.

The Berkeley City Council unanimously voted "YES" on a measure to legalize of drugs in direct opposition to Federal law. Instead of supporting American Soldiers and Marines, Mayor Tom Bates and the Berkeley City Council are actively supporting - and protecting - Drug Dealers. Who saw this coming? (Note sarcastic tone) The use of illegal drugs and the protection and safe haven of drug dealers are what Berkeley considers important. To quote the Church Lady, "Well, isn't that special."

You will notice that we often cite "Tom Bates" and the "Berkeley City Council" by name. It is important to give credit where credit is due and we will give full credit to Mayor Tom Bates and the members of the Berkeley City Council for everything they do.

Do not be fooled into thinking that these people "Support Our Troops". Nothing could be further from the truth. They keep saying they support the troops, but they are lying. Look at what they do support. They support CodePINK. We know this by their voting record, by the actions caught on video, and by their statements. Pictures speak volumes as to the true intent of the so-called "Peace Movement". Here are a few pictures showing what Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates, the Berkeley City Council, and the followers of CodePINK does support by supporting CodePINK and the rest of the "Peace Movement". How can anyone not consider these people guilty of Sedition and Treason? How much do actions like these empower the enemy and which one of these people would not give personal information of an American POW to the enemy that held him captive? All the enemy would have to do was to ask and any of these traitors from Berkeley, from the mayor on down, would gladly spend the time to gather as much information as they could and hand it over to the enemy in a timely manner.

These people would have you believe they support the troops!

Defacing the American Flag Anti-Semitic Protester Shoot Officers

These are just three photos. To see more of the anti-American, anti-Semitic, anti-military views supported by Mayor Tom Bates and the Berkeley City Council, look at Left-Wing Protesters - A Photographic Record.

Who has respect for military personnel? Who supports American Troops? Who does not? Mayor Tom Bates and the Berkeley City Council do not. So much for the act of "Tolerance" that is supposed to be the cornerstone of Liberalism. No one believes that Tolerance has anything to do with these Liberals. They are Rude, Disruptive, and Loud. The video clip is enough for all to see this statement of fact and Mayor Tom Bates and the Berkeley City Council are empowering these people. That places them squarely on the side of al-Qaeda, HAMAS, Hezbollah, and every other American hating enemy existing in the world today.

The Berkeley Method of showing support for American Troops

This is what the residents of Berkeley really think about the Marines. They call Marines "War Criminals". They say that the military deliberately targets civilians. The city of Berkeley is an absolute disgrace to this country. Whatever Berkeley does after this will not matter because for patriotic Americans, this is how we will remember Berkeley.

Please, give Mayor Tom Bates and the Berkeley City Council a call and tell them what you think about their decision to support CodePINK against the Marine Corps. Regardless of what they say in the future to create the illusion that they care, what we have seen is the true nature of the people of Berkeley and the following statement summarizes this nature.

Berkeley, the Most Un-Patriotic City in America.

05 February 2008

Well there is some good news. Americans are not going to stand for this insult to the United States Marines.

Berkeley Backs Off On Banning Marines

February 6th, 2008 - As six Republican senators, Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), Saxby Chambliss (R-Georgia), Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-Oklahoma), John Cornyn (R-Texas), James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma), and David Vitter (R-Louisiana) introduced the Semper Fi Act of 2008, a plan devised to yank $2.3 million in federal funding for Berkeley programs.

Senator DeMint: "Berkeley needs to learn that their actions have consequences. Patriotic American taxpayers won't sit quietly while Berkeley insults our brave Marines and tries to run them out of town. Berkeley City Council members have shown complete ingratitude to our military and their families, and the city doesn't deserve a single dime of special pet project handouts."

Senator Cornyn: "The Berkeley City Council insulted our troops and offended people across the country. If the U.S. Marines are not good enough for Berkeley, neither are taxpayer dollars Congress would have sent there this year. That city closed its doors on the same individuals taking bullets on the front lines while fighting for the safety and freedom of families in Berkeley and throughout America."

Senator Vitter: "The actions of the City Council of Berkeley are in stark contrast to beliefs of the vast majority of Americans who recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of our U.S. Marines. This is simply unacceptable and those funds could be better utilized by the Marine Corps."

Dr. Coburn: "The actions by the city of Berkeley are deplorable and insulting to those who are serving and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the very freedoms that are being exercised to insult them. I know I stand with the majority of Americans in thanking our service men and women for their selfless service to our nation."

Senator Inhofe: "Unfortunately, those on the Berkeley city council do not seem to understand the sacrifice of the brave men and women of the United States Marine Corps. By interfering with military recruiting, the city of Berkeley is hampering our ability to protect this nation. While the city of Berkeley and the protestors are free to say whatever they like, free speech is not a protection from consequence."

Senator Chambliss: "We need to send a strong message that our military personnel deserve our strongest support. Georgia is a proud military state, and my constituents will be out outraged to know that during a time of war, their taxpayers dollars have been used to reward folks who have insulted and disparaged those who defend this nation every day."

Mayor Tom Bates was quick to apologized Wednesday for his hard stance against a Marine recruiting center for fear of losing these funds from the Federal government.

Two City Council members vowed to soften their stance as well.

Berkeley Could Pay For Anti-Marine Stance

On 5 February 2008, at their Tuesday council meeting, leaders will discuss scrapping a letter targeting the center or the Marines.

The letter said that the recruiting center was not welcome on Shattuck Avenue and that the Marines were uninvited and unwelcome intruders.

"That letter will probably be pulled back and maybe more moderate language will be put in place which is appropriate I think," said Berkeley mayor Tom Bates.

"Subtly stated in the resolution is perhaps an impugning of the soldiers fighting for us in Iraq and other places," Berkeley City Councilman Laurie Capitelli. "And that was never the intention but that really needs to be cleared up. As I walked to my car that night I realized I regretted it and I had made a mistake."

What was your intention? Your actions were repugnant and an insult to anyone that has ever worn the uniform... except for Max Anderson, Berkeley City Council Member - District 3. We heard what he had to say and he seems to be the kind of person that would leave a fellow Marine behind. Commonly known as an "Unreliable Marine", he was "drummed out" for being a substandard Marine, something that he seems to wear as a badge of honor based on his comments. The pride he takes in his discharge is proof of his substandard qualities. Thank goodness that the security of this nation does not depend on him.

Bates, who has joined CodePINK in their pickets in front of the Marine Recruiting Center in an attempt to harass them and force them out of town, said the city did not mean to offend anyone in the armed forces and the focus should have been on the war not the troops.

You have allied your local government with CodePINK. All they do is offend people that do not believe as they do. Stop your lying! We heard your speak at the City Council meeting. You knew exactly what you were saying. You have shown your hatred and disdain for the military. You try to cover it up with, "We support the troops, but not the war," nonsense. If you do not support the mission, then you do not support the troops. If we are wrong, then tell us what you are doing to support the troops. All we see is that you are providing permits to CodePINK so they can call Marines "Killers" by saying that Marines deliberately target civilians. Then we have your statement.

"I believe in the CodePINK cause. The Marines don't belong here, they shouldn't have come here, and they should leave."
-- Tom Bates, Mayor of Berkeley, CA at Berkeley City Council meeting 29 January 2008

Look at your statements. Look at your actions. "The city didn't mean to offend anyone..." How much more offensive can you be? You are supporting the people that hold the signs "We Support the Iraqi Insurgents". You are supporting and giving favorable treatment to the same people that gave more than $600,000 in aid to "the other side" and call our troops "Occupation Troops" and you are proud of it.

"There's really no correlation between federal funds for schools, water ferries and police communications systems and the council's actions, for God's sake," said Bates, a retired U.S. Army captain. "We apologize for any offense to any families of anyone who may serve in Iraq. We want them to come home and be safe at home."

The one thing you can see from these Liberals is the lack of a good backbone. They do not show any spine at all. Zanne Joi of CodePINK stated it the best how they do not want to be challenged.

"I was under the impression that we have the right of free speech. To me, I thought free speech meant you get to say what you want without recrimination."
-- Zanne Joi of CodePINK

If you think being able to recriminate is also what free speech is all about, at least until all recriminations against Left-Wingers are declared hate speech, which is what Liberals want. If you think "Free speech means you get to say what you want without recrimination," it just proves that Zanne Joi and the rest of CodePINK do not have a clue.

The letter was originally approved in January and has not been sent.

City officials said they got a flood of e-mails, many asking them to reconsider their position.

Members of the Berkeley City Council have said they would replace the "intruder item" with words expressing their support for the troops but not the war in Iraq.

How does the Berkeley City Council support the troops aside from allowing CodePINK call Marines "Killers"? What specifically have they done to support American troops? The fact is they have done absolutely nothing. The only troops they have supported are the ones killing Marines and Soldiers. Thanks for nothing...

The Republican plan would give the funds, intended for a school lunch program, UC Berkeley and ferry service, to the Marines instead.

"Patriotic American taxpayers won't sit quietly while Berkeley insults our brave Marines," said one of the senators.

The recruiting center opened about a year ago and quickly became a target of anti-war protesters including the group CodePINK.

Last week the council passed resolutions giving CodePINK a place to park out front. Some have said that meant the city giving was giving the group a place to continuously protest the Marines.

"What we're doing is we're announcing a bill that we intend to get on the floor to strip transportation from the city of Berkeley," said East Bay Republican Assemblyman Guy Houston. "What they have done in Berkeley is they have set aside a parking spot and in my opinion a public right of way, a public transportation corridor, specifically for a private organization - in this case CodePINK - to harass and annoy the United States Marine Corps and their recruiting efforts. We think that playing around and having an agenda with the public right of way is subject to ramifications. There is $2.3 million in proposition 1B transportation dollars. We think that should be in jeopardy."

Others on the Berkeley City Council seemed quite firm on their stance, NBC11's Christie Smith reported.

Sen. Barbara Boxer and Rep. Barbara Lee said they plan to fight the Republican bill.

CodePINK announced they would have what they called a "24-hour peace-in" leading up to Tuesday's city council meeting. They will be camping out but will have a lot of company. A group of pro-troop protesters will also be there.

Group members have made their organization infamous by intentionally getting arrested at protests and congressional hearings.

An Olive Branch

Berkeley City Councilman Gordon Wozniak extended an olive branch to the Marines. He went to breakfast with a recruiter Thursday morning.

"Berkeley is supposed to celebrate diversity and free speech and we welcome homeless people here. We welcome illegal immigrants. We give them sanctuary. We should welcome the Marines. I mean they're basically dedicating their lives to protect their country."

Wozniak said he does not support the harsh language of the letter to the Marines originally authorized by the city.

Ann Cooper with the Berkeley Unified School District wants both sides to play nice.

"Senators sitting 3,000 miles away are trying to take food away from the children of Berkeley," said Cooper. "Why? Because the Marines and the city aren't playing nice - and that's just not OK."

This statement by Ann Cooper is what is so defining of Liberalism. She thinks that she is entitled to this money for nothing. Maybe if the Berkeley City Council and the Mayor's office were not so inept, they could provide whatever food is needed for the children of Berkeley. Why should the rest of American have to pay for the children of Berkeley especially when they are being taught to hate the very people that ensure they live under the umbrella of freedom that is the envy of the world.

Perhaps it would be appropriate to see how the food money was to be spent. One earmark provides $243,000 in taxpayer dollars for the organization Chez Panisse to create gourmet organic school lunches in the Berkeley School District. Chez Panisse is dedicated to "environmental harmony" and their menu features "Comte cheese souffle with mache salad", "Meyer lemon eclairs with huckleberry coulis", and "Chicory salad with creamy anchovy vinaigrette and olive toast".

This is a perfect example of the culture class elite of Liberals built upon the backs of taxpayers. How much for each child does this gourmet organic lunch program cost and why can the parents of these privileged class children pay for their own upgraded meals of the aristocracy? If is costs so much that parents cannot afford the cost and federal aid is needed, maybe a return to Sloppy Joes and regular salads might be the answer. Nearly a quarter of a million dollars for ORGANIC school lunches? Why is regular food not good enough and why do taxpayers not living in Berkeley have to pay the bill? Talk about wasting taxpayer money.

As if on cue, council members began shouting about their First Amendment rights.

"We really do have a great deal of concern for the people in our military, and we don't want to be critical of the sacrifices they are making," said Linda Maio

You do not care one bit about the Marines in the recruiting office. We know you are actively working with CodePINK to mobilize the very same proponents of the anti-military resolutions to come and stack Tuesday's City Council meeting. Yes, you are the epitome of honor and integrity. (Note sarcastic tone)

"I guess they've never heard of free speech," Berkeley City Council Dona Spring told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Berkeley Council Member Dona Spring thinks the First Amendment makes her official acts as a public official immune from criticism or lawful attempts to revoke funding. By that comment above, Dona Spring thinks that the First Amendment should protect speech from criticism and public acts from challenge. In other words, no one has the right to dissent against any Liberal agenda, especially all decisions of the Berkeley City Council and to stand in judgment against me is morally wrong. Once again, look at what Zanne Joi of CodePINK had to say.

Zanne Joi

"I was under the impression that we have the right of free speech. To me, I thought free speech meant you get to say what you want without recrimination."
-- Zanne Joi of CodePINK (pictured right)

When all is said and done, what we have is the patriotic and selfless efforts of people who might actually want to serve in the Marine Corps or any other branch of the armed services. They do this for very little pay and without any respect or gratitude from the people and government of Berkeley and groups like CodePINK so everyone in America can live in a free country. Instead, there are the actions of people like Max Anderson and Tom Bates that served in uniform. They are traitors to this country. They have said by their actions that their service to this country is not positive and all military service is contemptible and is a shameful and stupid endeavor. The rest of America needs to stop sending aid in the form of Federal subsidies to the City of Berkeley.

Berkeley will always be Berkeley, the Birthplace of Liberalism, and the Most Un-Patriotic, Anti-American, Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Military, Intolerant, and Pro-Communist City in America.

A group called Move America Forward wanted to counter protest CodePINK. Catherine Moy, the Executive Director, met with Berkeley City officials today, including representatives of the police department about the planned rally and protest of Berkeley's outrageous resolution condemning our Marines at the Recruiting Center as "unwanted and uninvited intruders". It went about as well as anyone would have expected it would have gone. The Berkeley City Council with representatives from the police department were openly hostile toward anyone with opposing views. Here are some of the demands from the Berkeley bureaucrats.

- sign language interpreters for hearing impaired

- Porta-Potties for the disabled

- the mandatory shut down the sound system at 5:00 when the rally is scheduled to begin!

- and many other ridiculous permit rules

CodePINK, however, has preferred parking, free sound permits, and two City Council Members that spent the weekend working to deny anyone else the right to speak at the Council meeting at 7:00 Tuesday night. After all of that, now it appears the Council is meeting secretly at 5:00 in the afternoon.

This is what Berkeley does best. They do not believe in anyone else's right to protest beyond their own because in their eyes, anyone that opposes their view of the world is wrong and therefore should not be allowed to exist.

Keep in mind what it is that the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guardsmen do for us without thought about any political affiliation and why Berkeley does not approve.

1. Toys for Tots program

This is program that is a Christmas thing and in the eyes of the Left-Wing, religion has no place being sanctioned by any government agency, especially the "Killers" in the Marine Corps, due to the separation of Church and State, so we can see why Berkeley does not like this program.

2. Katrina and other domestic hurricane relief

CodePINK will acknowledge that President Bush caused the damage in New Orleans.

3. Tsunami relief

Tsunamis and their destruction are by Global Warming so the military and the rest of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy are responsible for that anyway.

4. Disaster relief efforts globally without restrictions as to nationality, religious affiliation, governments or political reference

In Berkeley's eyes, this is just another form of Imperialism and attempts to control and occupy other countries.

5. Drug Interdiction along the US borders

Drug Interdiction is against everything Berkeley stands for anyway. Berkeley wants to be a sanctuary for drug dealers.

6. Safety and security of our Embassies

From Berkeley's point of view, we should not be in these countries as Occupation Troops with a bunch of "Killers" and "War Criminals" that only target innocent civilians.

7. Safety and security of America

Berkeley and CodePINK have stated that no war is worth fighting. Not the Nazis and Japan in WWII and not the War on Terrorism. Besides, "what is wrong with Communism?" No one in Berkeley or on the Berkeley City Council can tell you and CodePINK is doing what it can to expand Communist doctrine.

The big secret about CodePINK and these groups is that they are not really anti-war. The goal of these groups is to use an anti-war message to lure unsuspecting people to the radical Communist and Socialist ideals that are at the heart of their groups. The anti-war message creates an illusion that provides a certain level of instant credibility with people who are ignorant of the backgrounds of the leaders of these groups and often times ignoring these backgrounds as minor differences. These followers are well intended, but most have no idea who they are really marching with.

David Corn of "The Nation" has written articles acknowledging the fact that the so-called "anti-war movement" is nothing more than a collection of Communists, Socialists, and anti-Semites.

There comes a time when you can no longer dispute the evidence. Many people that hate this website with every fiber of their being and the reason is that we are not afraid to print the truth. We offer opinions based on the facts of the evidence collected. The claim is that the protesters at Berkeley outside the Marine Recruiting Office support the troops. It is our opinion that this is a lie - a total fabrication. It always has been. Liberals loathe the military and the people that serve within the ranks of the military. They always have and they always will.

The above photos taken in front of the Marine Corps Recruiting Office in Berkeley show the truth. This is what they believe. This is what they support. This is what they facilitate. These photos show the true face of Berkeley and the people that are protesting the Marine Corps. Take note of the reference. Communist ideals are what these Liberal protesters really support and what they want to force everyone else to accept.
